Eclipse
Eclipse is the third installment in the Twilight series. In this book, Bella and Edward have been reunited, and Edward vows not to leave Bella ever again. This book chronicles the love triangle of sorts between Edward, Bella, and Jacob. This is one of the more important books, because it paves the way for the last and final book, Breaking Dawn. In this book, some of the characters like Rosalie and Jasper tell their stories about how they became vampires. Rosalie’s story makes sense to Bella because Rosalie tells Bella that she did not have a choice about becoming a vampire and that she does not want Bella to regret the things she will miss if she makes that choice. From that point in the book, Bella understands why Rosalie seems to have a chip on her shoulder and be upset with her. They become friends in this book.
Another character, Jasper, tells his story about becoming a vampire as well. Jasper’s story is very important because the other characters learn that Jasper knows how to fight new vampires. This is very important because these new vampires, also known as “newborns,” are plaguing the city of Seattle. Bella finds out that her old nemesis, Victoria, is at it again and that Victoria is trying to get her revenge. Victoria creates a newborn named Riley who is set to kill everyone. Edward and the Wolf Pack, which is comprised of Jacob and several others, decide to go after Victoria and the newborns.
Eclipse shows how the relationship between Jacob and Bella has become very strong, and she suddenly realizes that she must choose between Edward and Jacob so that she does not continue hurting one of them forever. Eclipse also develops the relationship between the vampires and the Wolf Pack. Jacob and Edward start to have an interesting relationship, and Edward finds he feels safe letting Bella spend time with Jacob.
At the end of Eclipse, Bella and Edward get engaged, and the fourth book follows from there. The movie Eclipse is set to release in 2010, and it will be interesting to see what scenes are kept and what scenes are left out of the movie. There are a few very visual scenes in the book, such as where Bella and Edward are in the tent together and Jacob is there, and when Edward buys Bella a bed.
