New Moon
New Moon is the second installment in the Twilight series. At the beginning of this book, Edward decides that Bella will be better off without him and he leaves. Bella is totally broken and cannot even get out of bed for weeks. When Bella starts getting herself back together, her relationship with Jacob becomes stronger. Jacob is the only friend who can seem to make Bella feel better. He also helps her with her new-found adventurous side. Bella decides to buy two motorcycles and has Jacob fix them up in his garage. Once they are fixed up, Jacob teaches Bella how to ride. Bella then realizes that anytime she does something to risk her life, she can hear Edward’s voice trying to stop her.
During her adventures with Jacob, he becomes distant with Bella and she thinks that she did something wrong. One night Jacob comes to see Bella because he knows she is hurting and gives her a hint as to why he has not seen her in a long time. Bella comes to the conclusion that the stories that Jacob was telling her in the first book are true. Bella finds out that her best friend is a werewolf.
One of her adventures gets her in trouble, and Jacob comes to her rescue after this failed attempt at cliff diving. When Bella gets back to her house, she realizes that Alice is there, and Alice gives Bella the news that Edward is planning to let the Volturi kill him once he shows his shimmering body for all to see. Bella and Alice go on an adventure to Italy to stop him.
